Research activities

The NIMS Group conducts research into and develops next-generation particle systems with engineered properties, combining nanotechnology and biomedicine to generate therapeutic drug delivery vehicles that can target specific sites. An important aspect of this is the use of the layer-by-layer (LbL) technology.

  • Surface modification of particles
  • Polyelectrolyte multilayer and multicomposite films
  • Biosensors
  • Inverse opals and macroporous materials
  • Biochemical reactions within confined geometries
  • Hollow spheres
  • Particulate bioassays
  • Drug delivery systems
  • Metal-organic frameworks
